2025 Spring Adult Discussion Group
The Sunflower Discussion Group
Do you struggle to focus on Great Lent in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life?
Do you miss the fellowship of other Orthodox Christians during the week while you attempt to keep the fast in your heart amidst the secular world around you?
Do you have lots of questions as to how you can reckon with the will of God and how His will intersects with your own daily life?
Then, come join us! Here at the Initiative, we will be coming together every Thursday at 7pm EST to read and discuss, The Sunflower: Conforming the Will of Man to the Will of God, by St. John of Tobolsk. We have formed a wonderful community of Orthodox adults of all ages who meet and discuss various Orthodox writings led by Fr. John Somers, our Headmaster.
Meeting Schedule:
Thursdays at 7pm EST
March 27, April 3, April 10
(Break for Holy Week & Bright Week)
May 1, May 8, May 15, May 22, May 29
Price: $95 per household
Here is an excerpt from the book we will be reading:
“May our love for the Sun, the will of God, be as strong as the sunflower’s, so that even in days of hardship and sorrow we will continue to sail unerringly along the sea of life, following the directions of the barometer and compass of God’s will that leads us to the safe haven of eternity.”
Please join us as we begin this 8-week journey that will take us through Great Lent and the Paschal period as we explore this highly practical manual of how to align God’s will with our own lives!
All proceeds benefit the Initiative Scholarship Fund! The price is per household; so couples or parents and adult children may join together for the same price!
